Quite apart from there probably being plenty of prior art out there,
Mind Candy actually got a patent for some of the game mechanics
behind Perplex City. It was a defensive patent, of course, but I'm
sure it covered some of the same areas as this patent.

To be honest, this one sounds remarkably similar to PXC, what with
'unique identifier' and 'proferred puzzle solution'. Maybe it even
*is* the PXC patent - I never looked at it too closely myself.
