[arg_discuss] Introductions - part 2

Hi everyone,

I'm a freelance TV producer with a background in opera; up until about
3 years ago I produced new work for the stage, developing Arts Council
funded projects with young composers and librettists. I got tired of making
work that hardly anybody saw so I made the switch to TV, which has led me to
the production of a film opera with the company Illuminations TV. We're in
script development at the moment. I came to Perplex City by chance and have
been playing it since then, partly out of curiosity, partly because I'm
really enjoying myself.

I'm particularly interested how you map the virtues of traditional art forms
on to other media in a meaningful way. A contemporary opera that is
conceived and shot as a film is one example of that; an art
exhibition that contained an ARG would be another. I'm also interested in
how you might access arts funding for this sort of work - I don't see why it
shouldn't be substantially supported.

All best, hope to meet some of you next week at the get-together,

Alex Fleetwood
