I agree self hosting would be better than hosted with ads on a service that
simply won't work as well as pairlist/mailman anyway because pairlist as it
works now is untenable, as described in their notice. A new design/software
package would need to be selected. Self hosting is also preferable
especially when these companies torch everything when they close down often
with barely any notice. 3 months is fine, but why not 1 or 2 years? Will
they be archiving this data with a service like archive.org?

I'd be happy to host such a service but there are a lot of challenges with
self-hosting email. I've self-hosted email before and the challenges are
not insurmountable, if you can accept that some people simply will not get
emails from a self hosted service. We can partner with an email service but
that's not particularly cheap, would cost well over $100/year maybe closer
to $200.

It would be helpful if someone like Dennis or perhaps the coco club could
moderate such a system as I would rather just host and manage such a
service and not actually moderate it. I know the CoCo club also is in
search of a mail service for periodic newsletters/communications so the two
problems could be solved at the same time with the proper engineering.
