I think the primary concern (not flaw per se, but...) is the lack of 
6551 compatibility.  No matter how many disclaimers you put on such a 
device, I believe some will buy thinking it will work with older SW, and 
then complain about the product when it does not. Or, alternatively, 
folks don't want to swap out RS232 carts when they switch from OS/9 to 
some old 6551-needing app.

But, as Rick notes, Ed's MPI has 2 16550s.
