I guess we live in a world or excess. The waste that mankind produces is
incredible in areas far beyond our e-mail systems.
I do my part to improve things... I use multi-statement lines in Basic,
I keep my comments to a minimum and I prefer to write tight Assembly
Language code. :)
But seriously, I saw this waste coming back in the mid 80's when I saw a
DOS driver for using a Serial mouse. It was 80K!!
80 freakin' K to read a revolving ball! That was more than my CoCo2 at
the time!
Unfortunately, things have gotten far worst since then that I'm afraid.

I don't think it was me but yes, we have improved. We still have copper
wires. Not sure about fibre. Bob Devries will know better than I about
this (Hey Bob! Chime in!)
