If you reply to an HTML formatted mail, in HTML format then its not possible to do in-line replies. Outlook won't let you insert a comment in a sensible way. If you add bars down the LHS then when you instert text it won't let you remove the bar for the inserted text. It sometimes looks like you have done so, but you havn't
