In lieu of obtaining a actual MPI, building one of these would be best I
think, IMO..

I think that is just for visual keying.  I could always move it flush so
it's the same as the others on the edge.  Bill raises a good point though.
I don't have any Y-Cables to test the thing.  I've heard others have made
Y-Cables before with mixed results.  Not sure if something specific has to
be done with the board or not.

Being such a short board,  it could be used without a cartridge.
To show how serious I am about this mod, opened my beloved Coco-3 and
snapped a few photos, with Kip's EPROM board in the expansion slot.
to check how would it fit.
