You _really_ don't need that much room for the Pi.  I'd bet you could install it right inside a CoCo with no modifications at all.  Just hang it from the lid or something over the mainboard.  To give you some idea of the scale, I have one at work.  I've hacked up an old PC keyboard and installed the Pi inside of it; it has a reset button soldered onto the back, a power cord and a DVI cable coming out of it, and an extra USB hub installed inside with some externally facing ports and an 802.11 wireless adapter...

These things don't need much room at all.
