[Coco] CoCo Ethernet

Allen, you apparently haven't looked at the DW spec. DW's VHD support is just the tip of the Iceberg. Buried deep within is a communications protocol that will do about anything you want in Comm.
I run Vcc 6309 w/becker port through TCp to the DWserver then on the same machine, I run a second instance to the same server with Vcc 6809 w/becker port, then run XRoar w/becker port through TCP on the same machine to a DW server runnin in a Linux server in a VBox on the same machine. When my Coco is running there is an instance for it as well on the serial port.... to either server. All with there own GUIs and VHDs. So... 4 Cocos, 2 DW servers, 1 PC and 1 Coco. All I'm missing is communication between them. Aaron? :-)

occur, but you might consider making it mimic the DW API. If you and Aaron
could work together on establishing a single standard for networking on the
CoCo, it would encourage others to write compatible software.

worked with an older version of the DW4 server. But it would be easy to write a
new one in C, assembler, or even Basic09 that would add a layer of polish and
ease of use. Wouldn't it be nice if the same front-end program could work with
DW4 and a forthcoming ethernet adapter? Why not just make it take 'dw'
commands? That way people who are, say, working on a crude web trawler in
Basic09, can work with DW4 that exists now, and have it just work with your
system when it is available. There's something to be said for plugging in to a
ready-made software base, especially in an environment as small as the
CoCosphere.

Ah, I see. That could certainly be done, if the DW server supports TCP/IP or
could be modified to do it, and then you could access a DW server across the
internet instead of across the room.

Yes, that seems cool. So things like HTTP, FTP, and DW. (But, I am just talking
about using the "dw" command protocol -- not having remote hard drives and such.
Though, now that I think about it, I suppose that could actually be done, so a
CoCo could plug up to a router and use a LAN or WAN DW server... Interesting.)

Okay.
