I was wondering how long it would take before some with started griping
about another new CoCo project.

It only took 24 hours!

Gary, you are in good company. My CoCo 4 project was killed because of
all the griping over it. (They took the fun out of the project.)
I even had one guy gripe about it working under windows and said
Microsoft was paying me off to make sure it was not under Linux.
Needless to say, that was not true.

Don't let them get to you! I say work on making your product the best
it can be and deal with exporting headaches once everything is said and
done.

By the way, the last time I had to export a tech product to another
country there was a 50% import duty. The only way around it was
building most of it here in the States with last part added there. The
protectionism of some countries just makes it too costly to export to them.

It looks like a big "Middle finger" to everyone outside the US and if you can't be bothered to ship a sticker out in a plain envelope to someone supporting you outside the US, then that just turns people off.

I know If I ran kickstarter, I would make this an absolute must to list it. People will think you are just another arrogant American begging for money, without knowing any better.

The "excuses" are lame and just boil down to people can't be bothered with custom forms. When I ship with paypal, Paypal does all the paper work for me, and all I have to do is hit the print button.
