I never had access to a modem in my CoCo days. I think I finally got an old Radio Shack 300 baud modem for something like $5 from the junk bin at the local Radio Shack, sometime after I switched to using my Amiga. So, I missed most of the BBS era, and never got to play with Compuserve. My online life started with Usenet groups when I got to college in 1986.
