The color negative films, because you could compensate in exposing the print,
were a lot easier to get acceptable prints from. I shot a couple of miles of
the various kodacolor films, and some fujicolor too, in fact I shot 6 of the
first case of fuji's new ASA-400 (1600 if pushed) film that was ever shipped
to the states back in the mid-70's. The lady that owned the photography
store in Norfolk NE had pull I guess. When she retired and closed up for
good, I bought about 900 sheets of 8x10 color paper she kept in a freezer,
moved it to my freezer and had print paper for the rest of the time I was
doing it.
Because I had a Beseler 23C with a dichro color head, I could get better
prints out of poorly exposed OP negatives than the photo finishers of the day
could. got a reputation as the goto guy if they wanted better prints. I
still have one of the nikor tanks & a bunch of that stuff stashed away, and
even went so far as to make another darkroom sink 20 years ago, but it has
never been wet, too many other projects & not nuff time. Now the area in the
basement that I was going to use has my coco3 setup in it.
