Just to clarify a bit John,
You are trying to run Drivewire on the '486, not on the Vista PC, is
that correct? Does the '486 have some version of MS-Windows on it, and
if so, what version? You are calling it a 16-bit system. Does that
mean it is running Windows 3.1? I think that COMCTL32.DLL is a 32-bit
library file, and will probably only work with 32-bit versions of
Windows (Windows 95 or later). A quick scan of the Drivewire
documentation doesn't state explicitly, but does imply that it is
expected to be installed on a version of MS-Windows that has a 'Start'
button and a "My Documents" folder, which I think are present only on
>=Win95.
What it looks like to me is that if you don't already have and aren't
willing or able to install a 32-bit version of Windows on your '486
system, you'll probably have to do what Chuck Youse suggested in a
different reply and get a USB<->Serial adapter for your Vista PC. Or a
PCI card with real serial ports.
