I had one of those next door to me for several years.  She took in over 
40 cats and even let wild raccoons into the house.  They scratched the 
hell out of it.  She came down Lyme Disease several times and had to 
take rabies shots also.  The upside was I didn't have any varmints or 
snakes in my yard over that time.
