I have had some success by copying tapes through a HiFi system where you 
can adjust the bass and trebal and turn off the AGC...I also have copied 
to a 7 inch real to real...by coping at 7 inch per second and playback 
adjust at 3 1/2 then back to 7 or something like that...It can take a 
few trys and don't overwrite your origional..you may need to start over 
again...I was able to dig the data out of a tape that had been recorded 
with a bad ground and all you could hear was the 60 cycle...I did borow 
an asiliscope for that one though...but it can be done...
