I have to disagree, since I've been using PayPal since they were a pee-on 
little web site that was trying hard to make it.  They are as secure as it 
gets.  You do not have to have a checking account active to use 
PayPal.  They will mail checks to you if you like.  I've also had 
absolutely no trouble with anybody ever attempting to access either my 
credit card or my bank account(s) on file, unless I initiated the transaction.

P.S. What about sites or articles that mention "I use PayPal now because 
the other service I was using Sucks really bad."   :)
