[arg_discuss] New Media lists

Hello Colin,

I don't know if any contacted you off-list but there is no discussion list
dedicated to narrative in new media that I'm aware of. There are plenty of
announcement lists.

A candidate is Sue Thomas's list Writing and Digital Life list, which
"explores the impact of digital technologies upon writing and lived
experience within an interdisciplinary context", but has been more of an
announcement list for a while.

There is a digital poetry discussion list but I don't think you're after
that.

The likely candidate is the Game Writers SIG discussion list probably. ARG
writers & champions like Wendy Despain, Sande Chen & Corvus Elrod are on
that list. Perhaps one of them can say if they'd prefer ARG writing
discussion didn't happen on that list? http://www.igda.org/writing/

Otherwise, it can happen here...as there are plenty on this list that would
be interested and join in. BUT, some may not be comfortable talking at
length about a specific topic on a general listserv, and to such a large
listserv. I know I'd personally like a different list than this general one
but that is my single opinion.

Another option is to create a listserv dedicated to ARG Development,
including ARG writing...or just ARG Writing & Design...or something. If this
is wanted I could host that list easily for you, but if someone else can no
problem too.

I certainly am keen to pursue discussion about ARG Writing & Design (which
will include references to game & new media writing in general) and I know
I'm not the only one.

Thoughts?

Best,
Christy

Subject: [arg_discuss] New Media lists

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone is aware of a list similar to this dedicated to
narrative in new media. I've been doing a lot of reading in this area of
late and find it fascinating. It would be nice if it was also an ARG-aware
sort of thing, as the overlap between the two is my main area of interest.

Thanks,
Colin

PS: Happy St. Patrick's Day!
