[arg_discuss] Intellectual property and freelance work

Hi everyone!

I'm currently negotiating a contract for an ARG, and one of the things the
employer has requested is that she owns content created.

As a writer, if a publisher asked for the rights to my content, that's a red
flag telling me to run away.  Although the situation isn't the same, I'm
still uncomfortable signing away the rights to the work I'll be doing.

So I turn to you folks: in your experience, who owned what when it came to
IP?  It's reasonable to expect that if you're working directly for a company
that they own the IP, but what about for freelance work?
