I always suck at bios, but here goes anyway: I'm a
game-designer/project-manager by trade. Millennia ago I worked for a company
that went by the name of Flying Buffalo. They specialized in board, RPG,
and Play-by-mail games (multiplayer games played by snail mail). After that
I free-lanced for a while: designed, programmed, marketed, and ran my own
Play-by-mail game (which is where I learned just how much I hate running a
company). I also did contract design on a couple of the early computer RPGs,
Wasteland, being one of them. I finally moved completely into computer
games when I signed on at Sierra Online where I worked on the multimedia
editions of King's Quest, Space Quest, and various other Sierra titles,
before being recruited to Microsoft. The chip implant doesn't hurt as much
as a lot of folks imply. Really. At MS I worked on several versions of
Golf (how exciting) before escaping and going on to work on Mech Warrior IV,
Cel Damage, and Crimson Skies (as well as several other products that never
saw the light of day.). I happened to have been a warm body standing in the
right place (or the wrong one depending on your point of view) to get sucked
up into the Beast when that fired up and spent the following 6 months in a
sleep deprived fever dream where I was hounded by a mob of voracious ARG
players.oh wait, that part was real. Regardless it was one of the most
interesting projects that I've ever worked on. Although, I haven't worked
on another ARG since, I've kept up with the genre on ARGN, Unfiction, and
various other ARG sites. On IRC I go by wraith, or wwwraith and I'm known to
occasionally haunt the #unfiction and #evanchan channels. Oh, and many
thanks for inviting me to participate!
