Hi!
Well I did search High and low on the internet etc.. and never found Lumbago
listed since as my MD friend explained it is not the professional (or
medical ) term.. but rather means LBP.. (lower back pain) my patient was led
to believe she had a serious problem (because the Orthopedic Doc I;m
assuming wanted her to feel like he's taking her seriously.. or because of
the severity of her pain at the time) but had LBP that was unexplained.
I think there is a lesson to be learned.. for me and maybe for others as
well.. A) to check always (well I try..) basically to know our stuff.. once
a patient claims they have a medical condition.. that we don't know, while
setting up an appointment over the phone or however we have to research..
which i did.. without luck until I asked an MD...... there is slang used for
medical conditions that can't always be found in text books and on the net
B) many times Patients are led to believe that their condition is a lot
worse than they think.. only because the doctor does not explain what he
means or they don't understand what he's saying... calming them down is
sometimes have of the work... (of course never make them feel like their
pain is not real..of course it is!)
Regards to all!
