From sherill at sagworks.com Sat Jun 7 22:42:42 2008 From: sherill at sagworks.com (Sherill Anne Gross) Date: Sat, 7 Jun 2008 22:42:42 -0400 Subject: [Sagworks-art] sagworks blog - June update Message-ID: May was a good month with a lot of exciting news. --News? Artomatic is still going really well. I have sold a lot of works and my works have been receiving a great response. The best part of Artomatic is seeing the reactions from people who visit my work and that of others and also getting to talk to people about the work. Most people don't realize that the signatures are cut of paper until I point it out to them. I have spent a lot of time on-site volunteering and have gotten to meet a lot of participating artists - I feel much more of a part of the DC scene now. I have also made quite a numbers of peoples' "Favorite Artomatic Art" lists - including the "Falls Church News" Artomatic closes on Sunday June 15 - so only one week left. If you have not made it out yet, I think it is worth a trip. Artists have overtaken 9 floors of a newly-built office building in downtown DC one block from the Red Line New York Ave/Gallaudet metro stop. There is a lot of great art, music, film on display. --More Information on the event-- The Greenbelt Art Walk was a success. Thank you to all the people that made it out. An article appeared about the Art Walk in the local paper - the Gazette - and my artwork was featured. -- Read it Online -- This month has also seen 2 commissions come my way. I am working on both of them as well as other works at the same time. Both commissions are a lot of fun and I am happy to be part of them. I am not saying what they are until the finished products have been presented as they are gifts - don't want to let the cat out of the bag. --Recent artworks? Illustration Friday: "Seed". Another little 4" x 6" piece. It got this done in one very long day - but I was in the zone! (05/04/08) ? See the completed Seed -- Illustration Friday: "Electricity". This work started to be an 8" x 10", but right now it is closer to 5" x 7". The piece is still missing a background - but I am happy with it so far - it even has tattoos. (05/15/08) ? See the completed Electricity ? "Bee". This was a work I made to hopefully make the bees that live around our house not bother me. it was fun to make and I am really happy of how the background turned out. (05/27/08) ? See the completed Bee ? Work in Progress: "DNA". This was based on a suggestion of a new friend - I only have 3 strands completed so far - but I am making progress. ? See DNA where it is now? --New Prints Available? All prints are limited to a run of 100 and are printed on archival paper and include a hand-cut signature.
