Is this even possible in Papyrus? (So far I haven't been able to find anything in the manual that suggests that it is.) I want to print small labels to affix to 35 mm slides and pocket and spine labels for books in a small library. Any templates or pointers would be appreciated. To do this, I have created export formats containing the information that I want and then cutting and pasting into the Avery templates found in MS Word. I have looked through the Papyrus manuals and can't find a away to do this in one step using Papyrus. For example, I would love to be able to create a Papyrus export format that would print directly to Avery labels or some of the label sheets available from library supply houses (essentially a 3-column output that would give you a spine label, and identical card and pocket labels). Does this sound possible in Papyrus or have I missed something? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Brian _____________________________________________________________________ Brian P. You can specify such text within your placeholder by using curly braces ({...}): ...as we have seen [[{especially in }2 (Laszlo et al 1991){, but also in }3 (LaFi?vre 1992)]]... This gives me the opportunity to ask for an addition in the manual. We can change the formatting by introducing y, s, F, P or -. I use them all (although not together). While writing I insert only the page numbers for subsequent citations. But when editing a text I like to keep track of the exact references and therefore insert the citation with the minus-sign and the page numbers outside of the brackets like this: xxxxx [[-10755 (Greimas & Court?s 1982)]](p. 234) xxxxx which results in xxxxxx (p. 234) xxxx This use should be mentioned in the handbook, and maybe it should be possible to insert the page numbers inside the citation, and modify the formatting with a extra sign after the starting delimiter. Sorry for not responding more quickly to your question! Papyrus itself cannot produce a three-column output, or control line spacing and line count sufficiently precisely to print directly to labels. What you could do, though, is use MS-Word's mailmerge function. Set up a Papyrus output format that includes the relevant information broken into a comma-delimited form. For example: "Authors","Title","Year","Publisher, City of Publication","Also Print" You can repeat fields that will be present on more than one label. Tell Papyrus to use this format to export your references to a plain text file. (You could use RTF instead of plain text if you want to include character formatting.) You can then create an MS-Word mailmerge template that will use the Papyrus text file as its data file. (I'm not sure of the current MS-Word terminology for these files, but you should be able to work out the details by playing with Word's mailmerge wizard.) This template file would be based on the one that Word provides for your particular Avery form. I hope that these sketchy hints are enough to point you in the right direction! -- Dave Goldman (dave@rsd.com) Research Software Design 503/796-1368, fax 503-452-8920 617 SW Hume Street The PAPYRUS Bibliography System Portland OR 97219-4458 (U.S.A.)
