From kd6kpc at comcast.net Wed May 16 10:54:26 2007 From: kd6kpc at comcast.net (KD6KPC) Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 07:54:26 -0700 Subject: [NHRC-user] Problems with TS-32 Message-ID: <000201c797ca$1c9df390$0201a8c0@mainpc> I have an NHRC-3 with a TS-32 tone board. The tone board seems to be acting up. I need the repeater to encode a 123.0 Hz tone to trigger my EchoLink link radio. It had been working fine, until yesterday. The repeater is in my attic and I suspect the heat did it in (the temp was 86 outside and likely exceeded 100 F in the attic). This morning, while it was cooler, I got 90% of the signal encoded. When it gets hot (ambient temp), 0%-10% gets encoded. I suspect I just need to get a new tone board. If this is the consensus, I suspect I should get the TS-64. Could the problem be elsewhere? I want to make sure the tone board is the issue before I replace it. It is decoding just fine. 73's Garrett Dow, KD6KPC http://www.nwham.com From kd6kpc at comcast.net Wed May 16 17:21:04 2007 From: kd6kpc at comcast.net (KD6KPC) Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 14:21:04 -0700 Subject: [NHRC-user] FW: update on tone encode problem Message-ID: <000f01c79800$1fa0c3c0$0201a8c0@mainpc> -----Original Message----- From: Garrett Dow [mailto:gdowkpc at comcast.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2007 2:19 PM To: NHRC-user at nhrc.net Subject: update on tone encode problem Update on the tone encoder issue. I swapped out the TS-32 with another tone board and the problem is persisting. I have an NHRC-4 controller I can use to swap out the NHRC-3, but I don't know if I am headed in the right direction. I think I may need to try some alternate tones first. Does anyone have any ideas which way I should proceed on this issue? 73's Garrett Dow, KD6KPC http://www.nwham.com From jeff at nhrc.net Wed May 16 19:12:41 2007 From: jeff at nhrc.net (Jeff Otterson) Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 19:12:41 -0400 Subject: [NHRC-user] FW: update on tone encode problem In-Reply-To: <000f01c79800$1fa0c3c0$0201a8c0@mainpc> References: <000f01c79800$1fa0c3c0$0201a8c0@mainpc> Message-ID: <6.1.2.0.2.20070516191203.03222ed8@mail.nhrc.net> Uhhh, could it be a problem with your transmitter exciter? Will monitor and see what happens next. I'll have to test it again on a hot day. Everything has gone well except for programing a tail courtesy beep on the main repeater. I wish to use the tone described in the manual as tone code 05 tone A4. I find the manual some what confusing in the area of courtest beeps and cannot seem to find the proper string to enter in order to change the default tail beep. Thanks all.. Jack..!! Then, following page 27 of the NHRC-5 manual, you would enter: *71 where is the courtesy tone number to play or program. The valid range of values is 0 to 7. And is up to four sets of duration and tone. Duration is in 10 ms increments, valid range is 01-98. Both digits must be specified. Tone is set from the codes listed on page 49. For example, to reprogram the main receiver courtesy tone for a single tone of A4, for a duration of 50 ms, you would first unlock the controller, then enter *7100505 - where "*71" is for the courtesy tone program/playback code, "0" is for the main receiver courtesy tone, "05" is for the 50ms duration (in 10ms increments) and "05" is for the A4 tone. You can play back the courtesy tone to verify that it programmed OK by entering *710. When programming is complete, send # to relock the controller. Hope this helps.
