I'm concerned there's an air of insult in it -- implying that currently
you're a mere scripter and that that's bad and you need to move on from
it.

Also while there's recently been a meme of referring to "Perl programs"
rather than "Perl scripts" I suspect that it's been largely confined to
the visible and active "Perl community" and that the distinction between
them isn't well-known to many would-be buyers of Perl books.
