Extending further, while it's not O'Reilly, I think that Mastering Perl
should at least introduce some of the concepts that MJD fully develops
in Higher Order Perl. (Closures are already on the list, but there's
more than just that.)

This sequence sort of works out:

Learning -> Intermediate -> Advanced -> Mastering -> Higher Order

Extending to APress books, it sound like "Pro Perl" fits around
Advanced, focusing on core language features whereas Advanced focuses on
tools written by others (CPAN).

Mastering sounds like it's being aimed at least partly as "applied Perl"
-- how to adapt Perl to various real-world situations.

Maybe that's too conceptual, but I think it would help to have a very
clear view of where Mastering fits into the broader Perl book universe
and what it brings that will be distinctive.

(It should bring either distinctive content or a distinctive style or both.)

Regards,
David
