This is it for me - usually.
Also, with the list inactivity, the list email address is
something I would not think of or at my age even remember! :-)
I had been running gentoo on my laptop and most of my questions
have been answered on their forum or by generic "googling"
on the web. I recently installed Feisty Fawn Kubuntu on my laptop
and usually get solutions to my problems from the Ubuntu forums.
As usual, I went to the ubuntu forums for info on why my DeLorme
LT-20 GPS doesn't work. The best I could tell is that the
cypress_m8 module is broken. The recommendation is to change one
line in cypress_m8.c and recompile and reinstall the module. But
where to get the source and how to do a recompile of this module
was not discussed in the thread.
Is it possible to do a limited module rebuild without going through
the process of building a whole new kernel? If yes, how can this
be done? If no, I'll go back to the ubuntu forums to find out how
to configure, compile, and install a new kernel - since I don't
think this would be an appropriate question for linux-laptop ;-)
Another question. I used info found in forums on how to sync my
Palm Treo 650 to my Linux laptop via USB. So far well and good.
But, I use other things on USB and would like to not be burdened
with always using a (USB) cable. Both my laptop and the Treo have
IrDA. I have not found any info nor have I had any success syncing
using IrDA. Does anyone have experience in this area or know where
to get info on that?
Thanks.
