I have been using ubuntu for the past 6 months and it is very good. Its
installation is smooth, though the install disk only has the basic system and
applications for a 'home' use, BUT it automatically sets up the synatic
package manager which will provide everything else you need and vital updates
too. This package manager is dead easy to use.
I have previously used Fedora & RedHat, also Suse but none of these are as
easy to uase as ubuntu. However, if you are running a system where you need
'maintenance' then you are probably stuck with suse/red hat.
In June 2006 unbuntu will launch its next release, probably good to wait for
that as it will have a full openoffice 2 release (ubuntu 5.10 uses the 1.9
something with a backport of the 2.0.1 which is OK but there is a problem
with line thickness)
I would strongly recommend ubuntu if you have the choice.
