Opera is probably the browser with the best support for web standards (HTML,
CSS, XHTML...etc). I have been using the browser since around 1995, and even
back then, it had features other browsers are starting to pick up today. No
bad words about Firefox, but it is simply trying to redo what Opera has
already achieved. I don't see any ground-breaking ideas with Firefox, while
Opera has something going on all the time, and sometimes with great results!
I too always check my development work's compatibility with Opera, because
if it does not look right there, I am normally breaking some standard that
other browsers ignore, or have patched up. IE, as you know, make up their
own quasi-standards, and sometimes it's easy to forget what is a standard
and what is not.
Best of all, Opera 8.50 was released last week, and it is now absolutely and
completely free!
...so, yeah, long live Opera :)
Kind regards,
Simon Skrødal

Haha. I was going to recommend against Mac Opera too. Sorry Tom. I
think it's a pretty common view point that if you're going to use a
marginal browser, you should expect some marginal results at times. It's
not an issue of "is it a good browser" (though, why is it that it's the
only one giving you trouble?) It's all about market share.
>I must say I don't test Mac IE anymore.
Mac IE was the bane of my existence.
Browsers are crap. Long live firefox. And stuff.
