[flashpro] Adobe owns Macromedia

What about the diversity, creativity, innovation and choice?

If anything, I think that the competition between Macromedia and Adobe (as
well as many other major companies) is to our benefit -> pushing diversity,
creativity and innovation in their products -- and the fact that we, as
consumers, have a choice in what product to go for, all these companies have
to work hard for our money.

I think it's sad to see smaller companies with great ideas being consumed by
the giants - i.e. who knows how many ideas Microsoft has shot dead over the
years. They see someone with an idea, buy them out, patent the idea and puts
it to rest. Who knows how many great ideas out there have been silenced by
major companies?

If there is no competition, what's driving innovation? Diversity is good, it
makes us think differently

Down the track, you will see more mergers and eventually there will be only
a couple of big-guns left to run the show. The same is happening in your
supermarkets, at your service stations, your currencies, countries....
depressing. Sorry, but it is.

Simon
