The irony is that groups.io CoCo group exists because the Yahoo! Groups got shut down. With so many services that disappear (I loved Google+), self-hosting with a domain name and server rental seems to be a good bed. The risk there is that the hosting company could go under, but then you just point the domain to another provider and carry on with a backup.
As long as Glenside CoCo club has a list of where we can get together, we should land safely if we lose a service.
It wouldn’t hurt for all of us to be signed up to all of these, just in case.
