Yes, you can use the Greaseweazle to read in real floppy disks to archive
in a more modern disk image format. The file format it uses is a .SCP,
which can be converted using software, for example the HxCFloppy Emulator
tools, but like anything you should verify the backups work as intended.
I have used the Greaseweazle Project to read and write real floppy disks.
I have read a floppy disk using the Greaseweazle to the .SCP file format,
then using the HxCFloppyEmulator software I then converted that disk image
to a .MFM so I could use it in MAME.
After doing what ever I needed to do using it with MAME I was then able to
convert the disk image back to an .SCP then write that out to a new real
floppy disk using the Greaseweazle.
The only real requirement though is you have to have working floppy drives
:D which for some is the biggest problems these days. :)
