That's a good thought.  They do look sort of like lead.  I'll see if I 
can melt one of them with my soldering iron.

>  Could they be 'solder balls'?  These little balls would somehow form in the wave soldering process and sometimes break loose and sometimes cause issues.  I would often find them when opening stuff for repair.
