C64 tape loading was pulse based rather than wave based (with the sexy
tape edge triggered IRQ), and while they had dedicated tape decks,
I assume that was just connector conspiracy - seems unlikely they're
that much higher in quality!
Now I can't comment on the longevity of tapes recorded with one or other
of their turboload schemes, but I have a bunch of them that all seem ok
many years later (second hand though, no idea how often they got played
before they suffered in my hands).
