This is a NitrOS9 issue, not a SDC issue. Try exiting some unused windows by typing “EX” and then deiniz that window device to free up system memory.
Example, on window /w3 type:
EX
Then on another (different) window, type:
DEINIZ /W3
If present you can use the SMAP command to view free system memory. Formatting a disk takes a large block of system ram that normal reading and writing do not require.
