[Coco] Null modem cable carrier detect

Hi. Is there a way to mimic a carrier detect signal on the coco when using a null modem serial cable instead of a ‎real modem. I am trying to play checkers on two cocos using the cable instead of modems.
The checkers program seems to be waiting for this signal
