Error 43 is not an OS-9 error but is a Basic09 error code: 43 Unknown procedure.

Hard to tell what is wrong without seeing the DIM and TYPE lines and how you are using SYSCALL.

There are examples in the LevelII, OS-9 manual, page 11-168.
