Yeah, I tried that, too.  All I get is:
   "Unknown device type, name Unknown"
in the instance window.

​You should be able to manually edit the config.xml file and change the
tcp-server to serial.

Then edit the serial port section to /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyS0 or what
ever your serial device is under Linux.​
