Somebody will tell how you to assemble the code to produce what the author did.

Then you can start on your project, perhaps updating it for a CoCo3.

I am glad you found it, perhaps adding it to the http://www.colorcomputerarchive.com/ 

might be useful as there are lots of people asking asm questions. The OCR method would be harder than changing the code, bad font and printed in a magazine with poor scanning and poor OCR all add up to a difficult project.
