[Coco] Emulator Serial Port

Hi everyone,

Some of you know me from the b&w side of the TRS-80 world.  I’ve decided to visit the color side and give Coco programming a try.  I’ve installed XRoar on Mac and am becoming familiar with OS9 right now.  Thanks to John Linville for giving me a primer on Coco development.

Since interfacing TRS-80s with modern web services is what I like to do, I’ll be looking for the best way to use the serial port to connect to a serial-ip converter.  I know the Coco has the bit-banger port and also a real RS-232 rom pack.  Any recommendations on which one to focus on?  Does anyone know if XRoar or another Coco emulator has serial port support?  What are my best options on OS support for serial comm?  

Is drivewire an appropriate option?

Has anyone developed an ethernet/ip hardware add-on for the Coco?
