[Coco] How did Musica ][ work? (half-text, half-PMODE4)?

The thread on the Orch-90 cartridge (which I never had) brought
to mind the Musica ][ program (which I did have, and liked a lot).

The thing I always wondered (and still do) was how did it have half
the screen be in text mode and the other half of the screen be
in PMODE 4:
