I've known about the Fairlight CMI instrument for a long time,
but didn't know that it actually ran OS-9 LII
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI
I'd expect this was probably the most expensive commercial application
of OS-9
"The *Series III* model dropped the light pen interface (the light pen
cable apparently was one of the most fragile hardware elements in the
system) in favour of a graphics tablet
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_tablet> interface which was built
into the keyboard. This model was built around Motorola 68000
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_68000> and Motorola 6809
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_6809> processors, running Microware
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microware>'s OS-9
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS-9> Level II operating system (6809
version)."
