For example, you mention about a display. The best display is a VGA monitor. There are adapters that you can use to connect your CoCo 2 to the monitor. In fact, there is one that is currently being developed.

Be sure and use the best shielded cable from your CoCo2 to your NTSC TV. Use the CoCo RCA to F connector adapter with a RF cable, not one with an audio cable and adapter at the TV. That would be a horrible mistake. I posted a link to the right adapter on Facebook.

I just ordered a VGA to HDMI adapter with sound for my HTPC. New HDTV has HDMI inputs only.

But there is a better way available or soon to be available for a CoCo2. Boy are those boys busy with all their hardware projects.

My solution was to get a CoCo3 and use Marty's recommended monitor in Rainbow. I think I walked out of Fry's within several days, went to a Electronic Surplus Store here in Silicon Valley and got the exact raw cable needed. Built it and was happy ever after. Compare the price of a CoCo3 with the CoCo2 new monitor board when available. But then you would have the option of VGA output from the CoCo3, VGA from a CoCo2? Is that the project, there are so many boards available and more coming every day.

Sony KV1311CR, every CoCo3 owner would be more happy with one.

I saw a CM-8 even before the CoCo3 was released and said no thanks. I feel sorry for those purists, my $4400 new eyes could not hack it at all today.

Bottom line, keep your eyes open for any CoCo3 that you can afford. I have three but all are turned off as I now longer want to fight electronics.

Even the 40 character line mode on the CoCo3 is better than the 32 character black on orange screen I used on my CoCo2. (See the manual!, I see red when green is mentioned. It should be black listed.)
