[Coco] OT - Spam and Phishing

I have had these issues as well. In my case, I was spammed by my own email
address once. I was shocked! I still do not understand how gmail does not
know when a spammer from the outside is spamming a gmail user with their
own email address. I also regularly get emails from MyPCBackup asking
"Rana" if they can delete their files or warning that their files are about
to be deleted. I emailed them repeatedly that this is not me and that they
are mistaken, but they send them anyway. They all go to the spam folder. I
don't even look at them anymore.

If you receive a bogus email from someone you know, I recommend the
following:

1. contact them via phone to verify whether or not the email was from them.
2. failing that, email them at a known email address from a different
account (of yours) to ask them about it.
3. report the spam to your email provider so that they can update their
filters.
4. send any suspicious email to spam so that your internal filter can begin
to send subsequent emails from that address to the spam folder so you don't
even have to see them in your inbox.

There will be times when an email gets through the filter. Do not be
alarmed. Just send that email to spam and it will make them continue to go
there.

That's about all I can advise you to do.
