Can't recall, wether I used this under OS-9, or linux, but the GNU 'screen' utility is one of the greatest terminal utilities. It is a terminal multiplexor in which a user can use a single terminal window to run multiple terminal applications or windows.
You can even shut down the terminal, or the computer running a terminal emulator, without stopping the processes you started on the host. Later you can re-attach a new terminal to the running process, and carry on, where you left it.
