Hi,
The MPI upgrade usually has nothing to do with the switches. Are there switches for manual slot selection and CoCo 1/2 - 3?

Marty may have done both the mod to make the MPI to work on the CoCo 3 AND also allow use on a CoCo 1/2.
Reading backward towards the beginning Rainbows CoCo Consultations." may find it. The RTSI (Wow, I just realized that the Rainbow Text Searchable Index shares RTSI with ftp://www.rtsi.com/ ) gets no hits on " MPI " in the earlier Rainbows.

The good doctor's words in October 1991 are the definitive answer to MPI. and the CoCo 3.
Rainbow October 1988 page 58. That says just a small chip and some wires are needed for construction.
But be sure to use Aaron's site for the OCT 1988 Rainbow, it has a schematic correction in blue ink.
If it does not have the blue correction ask me. I got all the Rainbows in a Torrent and have them on my 1TB NAS.
The colored wire may match Tandy's upgrade. Marty says that his previous instructions were then bad because Tandy changed the wire colors.
If I try to zoom in the picture gets smaller. If I try to zoom out the picture gets smaller. Finally got it zoomed.
Marty's name is on it for sure. Why three IC's? That suggests to me that CoCo 3 and CoCo 1/2 operations are possible.
Remember, Marty's day job is putting people to sleep. Maybe he hit his arm instead of the patient when he did some of the MPI upgrade articles.
