Hi Joe,
COOL! That is why I wanted to build the 6 Chip 6809 Computer in the first place. To have a super simple 6809 based computer like some of the 8-bit computers of yesteryear that you had to have an external terminal to communicate with.

For this first iteration, I'm happy with it as is. I have full fledged Color Computers already, so a tiny super simple single board pocket size contraption is perfect. Using an Apple to serial cable, I plan to turn my disused iPad 1 into a terminal :). That or I'll dust off the Wyse dumb terminal in the closet and use it
