Phil,

What do you mean by .com and 0.51? The most recent MESS is, I believe, 0.162 and
the coco ROMs don't have numbers. Are you starting emulation with a command line
or a GUI and what OS?

When using MESS, the best way is to create a directory tree.
_ MESS containing the program
sub-directories artwork, cfg, folders, hash, ini, roms
sub-directories under roms: coco, coco2, coco2b, coco3, etc.

Each roms sub-directory should contain all required roms for that particular
emulation. So for the coco3p, it would contain: coco3p.rom and disk11.rom.

The coco3p.rom should not have any headers and be exactly $8000 bytes (32K). The
disk11.rom will be $2000 bytes.

Now some of the newest versions of MESS seem to want rom images for all coco
versions even though you may not want to use all of them. This is silly but try
having the bas10.rom in the roms/coco sub-directory.

Robert
