[Coco] NEW NORMAL

On the yellowing.... When I got my Coco 3 from it's original owner in 2012, it was "pure white" (or Coco white) as well as all the accessories (drives, CM-8 etc). Iwas really supprized at how white it was.
I was at my daughter's house in Fayetteville NC (piedmont area) when I received it, and while I was there, it stayed that way (2 weeks). When I got it back home (Wilmington NC, Coastal), in less than 2 weeks it had faded and was starting to yellow as did the drive cases (2), hard drive case, CM-8, and the worst was the Tandy Power Distributer (the big one that acts as a monitor stand) which turned completely yellow.
I would bet it has a lot to do with climate and barometric pressure on the plastic as well as things like elevation of the area.
I've seen a lot of people referring to it as tobacco staining, but being a smoker, I know tobacco staining can be removed (tough, but it can be done) and has nothing to do with the "yellowing" found in a LOT of "white" plastics produced from the mid 70s, until about the 90s.

Hmmm. Looking at the $300+ one it is odd to me that it appears to have no
yellowing at all, and only one photo is also odd. What made this unit not
yellow?

agree with everyone that $300 for a coco 3 seems very high.

*possibly* worth the $314 that it's currently sitting at (and perhaps more)
because from the picture it looks like it really is in mint condition – to a
collector, condition is everything. + It has the joysticks, TV hook ups, and
couple of games. If I were bidding on it, I would ask to see closer up pictures,
check for scuff marks, see if the warranty sticker is unbroken… etc… Plus the
seller only has 1 star rating and that’s as a buyer. SO… possibly risky?

condition by itself. But who knows. If that one sells and its final price, that
will give me an idea of what the CoCo3 market is right now. The market for
these, might vary from month to month.
