[Coco] e-mail app???

Aaron, you were right. I originally had the firewall turned off, as I have other means of protection, but something I installed (or windows update) had apparently turned it back on.

It might be the Windows firewall getting in the way.  If you go to the
control
panel I think there is a firewall config tool there that lets you
choose which
applications can communicate with the outside world.
