CoCoCCR is a cool name :)
I'll go ahead and get some parts from DigiKey for the prototype.
The double speed poke should work the same as it would on cassette, and it would conserve space!

In lieu of using my cassette deck to load HDB-DOS, I'm playing with the idea of building a small module using one of those ISD audio storage ICs. It would plug into the cassette port on the CoCo and playback would be triggered by the CoCo's cassette remote pin. This way I'd have a reliable and very portable way to get connected, and with media that never "wears out".

A solid state cassette replacement. I like it. Can we call it CoCoCCR ;) ? (Like Radio Shacks CCR-81, etc.)
I used to save and load all my CoCo 1/2 programs using the double speed poke. I wonder if that could be used, too :)
